The G…Suppression Force Has Arrived

Categories: Uncategorized @en

The Gang Suppression Force (GSF) is already in action in Haiti, we can already see its effect. The UN has voted on September 30, to deploy approximatively 5,500 military personnel and 50 civilians. Our hopes are high. We pray for a lasting solution to the problem of insecurity in Haiti.

Hurricane Melissa claimed 24 lives after a levee broke. Ten more people had died earlier. No one in our area has suffered any damage.

The years have passed. We would have liked to see thousands of people come to Jesus. But the story is not over yet. The Church continues. We celebrated the 28th anniversary of The Fortress.

Abraham Morlan was born in Belle-Anse, in southeastern Haiti. He is the sixth of eight boys. At age 12, his mother sent him to Port-au-Prince to continue his education. That same year, she was killed in a car accident.  Following her death, the family faced serious financial difficulties. Two of his older brothers had to abandon their university studies to work, as their father’s income was not enough. Three years later, his father died of prostate cancer. Abraham grew up without electricity while he was in the countryside.

When he was a child growing up in the countryside, he became friends with a boy who spent his vacations at his grandparents’ house. He would tell him all about the things he saw in Port, such as electricity, television, cars, and technology that they didn’t have in the countryside. What caught his attention was a special place called « Kay blan’’ (The house of the white people) . There, they served hot meals to the children. They had a safe place to play, and they heard the Word of God. He was really excited to see this place with his own eyes one day.

The day he arrived in Port-au-Prince, his friend took him there. He had never seen such a beautiful, pleasant, and welcoming place. There were toys, balloons hanging up, and there were “white people”! He says it was the best day of his life. He continued to attend this church, The Fortress (Haiti Ministries), for several years, where he was involved in visiting children, serving tables, and leading the youth ministry.

Abraham writes: « One day, Pastor Michel and Aunt Sabie (Louise) told me that they had found a sponsor for my schooling.  For me, it was a miracle. I didn’t expect it, because every year it was very difficult for me to start school at the same time as all the other children due to a lack of financial resources. God took care of me. He helped me grow up to be a wise and honest young man in my community.

The Fortress Church meant everything to our community. It was where I first met my future wife, Kim, a Canadian nurse who had come with a team. A few years later, we got married and moved to Canada. I studied in Canada and now work as a professional chef. Today, we have three beautiful children, a daughter and two sons. I thank God for His goodness to me and my family. Today, I can proclaim that all things work together for good for those who love God and are called according to His purpose.

This year there are 725 students at La Forteresse School, 587 of whom are sponsored.

Thank you for continuing to support the work in Haiti. There are many stories of redemption, and you have a role to play in these stories, either through prayer or through your donations.

Senyè a beni nou anpil!  (May God bless you abundantly!)
