A Glimpse of Heaven

In a dream, Marica saw Michel in his celestial body. He entered the house through the kitchen door.  His face and clothes shone brightly, and he looked much younger. She did not recognize him at first. But on his shirt was The Fortress school’s logo. She shouted “Daddy!” as she ran up to him to hug him, then the dream vanished. Marica has lived with us in Haiti for 8 years.

Two days later, I dreamt that Michel was wearing an evangelist’s shirt.  A week later, Assou dreamt that Michel came out of the house to walk in the yard. He ran out of his room to see him. Then, suddenly, he saw him leave the yard waving good-bye. He looked happy. Assou and I arrived at the hospital after his death. We didn’t get to say goodbye. Now Assou is happy that the man he considered his father said goodbye to him. Why is it so important for me to report these dreams? We live for the life that awaits us.  And it’s good that God opens a window to show us what happens after death. Assou has been living on our compound for 15 years. He never met his biological father.

Juline’s Story

Juline has always done exceptionally well in class. She was sponsored by ChildCare Plus until grade 13.  Here is an update written by herself: “I was at the Faculty of Agronomy and Veterinary Medicine (FAMV) at the State University of Haiti to learn agronomy for 5 years, and after that I was going to get a degree in agricultural engineering. But I did three years and could not finish. I found a full scholarship to study agronomy at one of the best universities in Latin America, Zamorano University. I’m going to spend 4 years here.  I am studying in Spanish, so I am learning it at the same time.”

Child Care Plus works very well in Haiti.  Many missions have left Haiti due to insecurity. Some missions rely on a few nationals to help from a distance, and sometimes, it is not going as well as expected. But Marica does a great job.  Even before we talk together about the tasks to be done, she has already done them. For example, she ordered the uniform polo shirts before I told her about them.

We have lost a dozen sponsors since the beginning of 2025.

The situation in Haiti prevents many families from sending their children to school.

Please consider sponsoring a child in your prayer time.

Haiti’s Minister of Education came to our school a few days ago. He arrived with a driver and two bodyguards, accompanied by a car loaded with police officers.  He came to ask for our school, 6 days a week for about a month, to mark the state exams for 13th grade students.  400 teachers are laboriously sitting at the students’ tables to do this work.  Although our children’s camp projects (VBS) have been thwarted or postponed, we cannot refuse to collaborate with the government.

Not far from our house there is sometimes heavy gunfire. Every evening, they say, armored vehicles descend on Delmas. They position themselves at all the exits, preventing the gangs from leaving their strongholds at night to attack people as they sleep.

Thanks for your support and for your prayers.
